On the relation between visual quality and landscape characteristics: a case study application to the waterfront linear parks in Shenyang, China

Abstract In recent years, Chinese cities have begun to pay attention their rivers, and a large number of waterfront linear parks been built in the riverside areas, so that public can easily enjoy landscape entertainment functions. this study, visual quality trails greenbelt Waterfront Park around Hunhe river Shenyang was evaluated basis Scenic Beauty Estimation Method Semantic Differential Method, principal components characteristics were extracted regression model established. Results show natural feature formal positive influence on parks, man-made has negative impact quality. The six are Sense seclusion, ecology, intactness, uniqueness, unity vitality, which main factors affect This study puts forward improvement measures for trails, results be applied planning, construction, management parks.
